Who we are

Care for Bones is a patient education initiative published by Pharmed Limited, a specialty pharmaceutical company headquartered in Bengaluru, India. Pharmed funds and operates this site.

We state this plainly because you should know who is behind health information before you decide what to do with it. Care for Bones exists to make fracture healing, recovery and prevention easier to understand for patients and their families in India. It is not a product website, and we do not use it to promote or recommend any medicine.

What this site is — and what it is not

Everything published here is general health education. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a treatment plan. Fractures differ enormously by bone, by pattern, by age and by the person's overall health, and no website can tell you what your particular injury needs.

We do not answer individual medical questions, and we cannot review anyone's scans, reports or symptoms. If you have broken a bone or think you may have, see a doctor.

How our content is written

Each page is planned around a specific question patients actually ask, rather than around a product or a search term.

• Drafting is led by our content team, which includes clinically trained staff, and is written against published orthopaedic, public-health and peer-reviewed sources.
• We use plain language. Where a clinical term is unavoidable — non-union, callus, ORIF — we define it the first time it appears.
• We describe treatment categories, not brands. Where a class of medicine or therapy is relevant, we explain what it does and leave the choice to the treating doctor.
• We use AI-assisted drafting tools in parts of our research and first-draft process. Every page is then rewritten, fact-checked and edited by a named human author, and no page is published on the basis of a machine-generated draft alone.

How our content is reviewed

Every page on this site goes through Pharmed's Medical, Legal and Regulatory (MLR) review before publication. This is the same review standard applied to our professional and promotional materials, and it is not optional for anything published here.

• Medical review. A qualified reviewer checks every clinical statement against current evidence and standard practice, confirms that nothing is misleading by omission, and confirms the content is appropriate for a patient audience.
• Regulatory review. Content is checked for compliance with applicable Indian pharmaceutical and advertising codes, including the requirement that patient-facing educational material does not promote prescription medicines.
• Legal review. Claims, disclaimers, third-party references and image rights are cleared.

A page is published only once all three have signed off. The medical reviewer's name, credentials and the date of review appear on every page — not in the footer, but at the top, where you can see them before you read.

Our medical reviewer is Dr Jayanta Jana, MBBS, DMRT, a qualified physician who trained at the University of Calcutta and is Senior Executive Vice President for Medical, Regulatory Affairs and Business Alliances at Pharmed Limited. His role at Pharmed includes commercial responsibilities, and we disclose this rather than leave it to be discovered. His review is limited to the medical accuracy and regulatory compliance of what is published; he does not select the topics we cover, and no commercial team holds approval rights over editorial content.

Our content is written by Dr Rashika Sharma, BDS, MBA, a dental surgeon by training who leads medical-education content at Pharmed Limited. Neither our author nor our reviewer practises orthopaedic surgery, and we do not present this site as specialist orthopaedic opinion. It is patient education, sourced from published orthopaedic literature and guidelines, and checked by a physician before it is published.

How we source what we publish

We cite sources on the page, at the claim, so you can check them yourself rather than take our word for it.

• We prioritise peer-reviewed literature, clinical practice guidelines, and publications from recognised orthopaedic and public-health bodies.
• Where Indian data exists — ICMR, national health surveys, Indian orthopaedic journals — we use it in preference to international data, because prevalence, nutrition and access differ.
• We prefer sources published or revised within the last five years, except for foundational science that has not changed.
• We do not cite user-generated content, slide-sharing sites, content farms, or commercial pages selling the thing being discussed.

Every reference is listed with its publisher and a working link. We do not cite sources we have not read.

How we keep pages current

Every page carries a published date and a last-reviewed date. Pages are re-reviewed at least once a year, and sooner when clinical guidance changes, when a cited source is revised or withdrawn, or when a reader tells us something is out of date.

When we make a substantive change to a page — a correction, a change in clinical guidance, a materially different recommendation — we update the review date and note what changed. We do not silently rewrite pages and leave the date untouched.

Corrections

If you find something on this site that is inaccurate, out of date, or unclear, please tell us. Write to us through our contact page with the page address and what you believe is wrong.

We review every correction request. Where we have made an error, we fix it, note the correction on the page, and update the review date. Where we disagree, we will tell you why.

Advertising and commercial relationships

Care for Bones carries no advertising and no sponsored content. We accept no payment from any third party for coverage, placement or links. The site is funded entirely by Pharmed Limited.

Pharmed manufactures and sells products in bone and joint health. Some pages on this site link to Pharmed Limited's corporate website. Those links are clearly marked as leaving Care for Bones, and no page here recommends a Pharmed product for any condition.

Privacy

We do not ask for, collect or store health information about you. Enquiries sent through our contact form are handled under Pharmed Limited's privacy policy. Please do not send us personal medical details.
